Helloween biography

Biography.

The journey and inspirations that shape Helloween's world.

Helloween is one of the pillars of power metal, with heroic choruses and twin guitars.

Founded in 1984 in Hamburg by Kai Hansen, Michael Weikath, Markus Grosskopf and Ingo Schwichtenberg, the band released a self-titled EP and then a first album in 1985, before becoming a quintet with the arrival of singer Michael Kiske.

The two parts of "Keeper of the Seven Keys" (1987 and 1988) established the band as a reference of power metal. Hansen left in 1989 to found Gamma Ray; Kiske in turn left in 1993 and handed the mic to Andi Deris.

In 2017, Hansen and Kiske returned alongside the then-current lineup for the "Pumpkins United" tour: 69 concerts in 14 months, the band's biggest tour.
