The Nashville band that carried southern rock to the top of the world charts.
Biography.
The journey and inspirations that shape Kings of Leon's world.
Kings of Leon turned southern and garage rock into an international hit machine, without ever denying their Tennessee roots.
Formed in Nashville in 1999 by three Followill brothers and their cousin, the band takes its name from their father and grandfather, both called Leon.
Often described as "the southern counterpart to The Strokes", they mix southern rock, garage rock, post-punk and country in their first albums, praised by the underground press.
The album "Only by the Night" (2008) and its tracks "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody" (Grammy for Record of the Year) propelled them to the rank of a stadium band on a global scale.
Since then, they have strung together albums and tours without leaving the big festival stages, between loyalty to their original sound and an unashamed pop ambition.
