Isle of Wight 2027

The Isle of Wight festival.
In a nutshell.

The Isle of Wight Festival takes place mid-June 2027 at Seaclose Park, in Newport, at the heart of the Isle of Wight — an English island facing Southampton, reached by ferry. The name carries a legend: in 1970, the island hosted one of the biggest gatherings in music history, with Jimi Hendrix, The Who and hundreds of thousands of people. After three decades of being banned, the festival returned in 2002 in a more modest form: four days, a mainstream rock and pop lineup, and family-friendly camping.

The lineup is deliberately broad and crowd-pleasing: classic rock headliners (the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, The Cure have all played here), current pop, a few reliable British names. This isn't the festival for niche discoveries, it's the one where three generations of the same family all find something they like. A handful of stages, including the main stage and the Big Top, are enough to cover the weekend.

The experience starts with the crossing: ferry from Southampton, Portsmouth or Lymington, then a shuttle to the site. Camping, by the River Medina, has a reputation for being calm and well-run. The island itself — cliffs, beaches, lighthouses — invites you to stay a few extra days. June weather on the Channel: mild, windy, with rain always possible; waterproof gear remains a must.
