The pioneer who made dubstep explode in the United States, between Grammys and a punk-hardcore return.
Biography.
The journey and inspirations that shape Skrillex's world.
Skrillex imported and reinvented dubstep for the American audience, before becoming one of the most decorated producers in electronic music.
Sonny John Moore grew up in Northern California and made his debut as the singer of the post-hardcore band From First to Last, before going solo as Skrillex in the late 2000s.
His aggressive style and saturated basslines ("brostep") popularised dubstep in the United States and earned him a shower of Grammy Awards from the early 2010s.
"Where Are Ü Now", with Diplo (Jack Ü) and Justin Bieber, became a global hit that won Grammys and symbolises his ability to infuse electro into mainstream pop.
After a decade without a solo album, his return in 2023 with "Quest for Fire" and "Don't Get Too Close" was hailed as one of the most notable comebacks of the electronic scene.
