The Californian pioneers who brought skate punk to mainstream airwaves.
Biography.
The journey and inspirations that shape The Offspring's world.
The Offspring brought skate-park punk rock into the charts, without ever giving up its biting irony.
Formed in 1984 in Garden Grove, California, by high-schoolers Dexter Holland and Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman, the band grew up in the same skate punk scene as Bad Religion and NOFX.
"Smash" (1994), released on the independent label Epitaph and carried by "Come Out and Play (Keep 'Em Separated)" and "Self Esteem", became one of the best-selling independent albums in history.
"Americana" (1998) and its hits "Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)" and "Why Don't You Get a Job?" lastingly established the band on MTV and helped make pop-punk a mainstream genre in the late 90s.
Still touring decades later, Dexter Holland pursues his career alongside a doctorate in molecular biology — a rare detour for a punk singer.
