The Swedish champions of melodic power metal, carried by choruses built for crowds in a frenzy.
Biography.
The journey and inspirations that shape HammerFall's world.
With anthem-ready choruses and a knightly imagery, HammerFall brought melodic power metal back to life in the 1990s.
Formed in Gothenburg in 1993 by guitarist Oscar Dronjak, formerly of Ceremonial Oath, HammerFall established itself as one of the spearheads of the melodic power metal revival.
Their first album, Glory to the Brave (1997), which won a Swedish Grammy, immediately established an unapologetically heroic aesthetic — armour, swords and choruses built to be chanted by entire crowds.
Carried by Joacim Cans's voice, the band strings together successful albums in Europe and the Americas, without ever deviating from its formula: unstoppable melodies and chivalric energy.
On stage, HammerFall remains one of the most anticipated bands at the big metal festivals, between jets of flame, banners and a crowd singing back every chorus.
