The British producer-singer who made minimalist electronics a ground for contemporary soul.
Biography.
The journey and inspirations that shape James Blake's world.
James Blake blends soul vocals and stripped-back electronic production, and has become one of the most in-demand collaborators in today's pop.
Born in 1988 in London, James Blake emerged at the turn of the 2010s in the post-dubstep movement, before breaking through with his minimalist cover of Feist's "Limit to Your Love".
His second album, "Overgrown" (2013), won the prestigious Mercury Prize and confirmed his place apart between song, soul and electronic production.
He became one of the most sought-after collaborators in pop and hip-hop, working with Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean and Travis Scott.
His falsetto voice and atmospheric productions remain a signature recognisable from a mile away, on his solo albums as well as in features.
