A pop-up city built from scratch in the Hampshire countryside: five days, several themed districts, around 77,000 people, and one of the UK's most immersive festivals.
Boomtown Fair takes place every summer on Matterley Estate, a working dairy farm in Hampshire on the edge of Winchester, inside the South Downs National Park. The festival builds a genuine pop-up city there, divided into themed districts, each with its own set design, its own stories and its own stages. Chapter Six, from August 11 to 15, 2027, continues a steady climb: around 77,000 people in 2026, up from 65,999 in previous editions. The lineup hasn't been announced yet.
Boomtown isn't a classic music festival with a main stage and some side stages: it's a whole city, with its own districts (Paradise Heights, Town Centre, Lion's Den, Hidden Woods…), each with its own mood, its own set design and its own lineup. Bass music (dubstep, drum & bass, jungle) has historically been dominant, but the festival also books electronic, reggae, punk and plenty of other genres depending on the district.
The site is 18+, fully cashless (RFID wristbands), and runs on a £20 eco-deposit refunded for a bag of sorted rubbish. Several camping options exist, from standard camping (Camp Orchid) to pre-pitched luxury camping (Camp Skylark), with a new premium option (Grand Vista) for 2027.
