Europe's biggest snow and music festival, April 5 to 10, 2027 in Mayrhofen, in the Austrian Zillertal: skiing and snowboarding by day, concerts in an igloo, a clearing or right in the street by night, for its 27th edition.
Snowbombing takes place every spring in Mayrhofen, a ski resort in the Zillertal, in the Austrian Tyrol. Born in 2000 in Risoul, France, as an après-ski promotional operation, it moved to Mayrhofen in 2005 and became Europe's biggest snow and music festival. The 27th edition, April 5 to 10, 2027, announces a first wave of nine names, including Fatboy Slim, Bicep Live and Basement Jaxx.
The concept: you ski or snowboard by day, across more than 600km of slopes, and move from one concert to the next by night, in unusual venues — an igloo village, a forest clearing, a remote alpine farm or right in the village streets. The programme was purely electronic at first before live concerts joined the lineup in 2008.
The festival wristband gives access to most venues and concerts, but the ski pass is booked separately, as are certain experiences (high-altitude brunch, wellness evenings). The crowd is overwhelmingly British, with a flight to Innsbruck, Munich or Salzburg then an organised transfer to the resort.
