Electric Forest takes place every summer at Double JJ Resort, a wooded estate in Rothbury, Michigan. The festival literally turns the forest into an art installation: lit trails, light sculptures suspended between the trees, stages tucked into the vegetation. Sold out every year since it started, it draws 40,000 to 50,000 people over four days of electronic music and camping. The 2027 edition, if the dates reported by the press are confirmed, would run from June 24 to 27.
The lineup leans electronic and jam band, with a genuine communal identity: many festival-goers come back year after year, some camping across several generations of the same family. The main stages (Sherwood Court, Tripolee) alternate with more intimate corners hidden in the woods, where the line between art installation and concert disappears.
Camping is an integral part of the experience — the vast majority of the crowd sleeps on site, in sometimes very elaborate camps. The entry ticket doesn't include camping or parking, sold separately, something to plan for before booking.
