Germany's big hip-hop festival, from 8 to 10 July 2027 under the giant excavators of Ferropolis: camping included in the ticket, a lake to swim in and over 140 shows every year.
splash! takes place every summer at Ferropolis, the "city of iron" between Leipzig and Berlin, near Gräfenhainichen, in Saxony-Anhalt. Founded in 1998 in a youth club in Chemnitz, it is the first hip-hop festival in the German-speaking world, installed since 2009 on a peninsula by Lake Gremmin, at the foot of former open-cast mining excavators. The 2027 edition is announced for 8 to 10 July; ticket sales have not reopened yet and no artist is known.
The festival built its name on unlikely onstage meetings and on its setting: excavators dozens of metres tall, an industrial amphitheatre and a lake to dive into between concerts. More than 140 programme items are offered each year, across several stages, with German and American rap stars.
Camping is included in the festival ticket: tent areas (blue and purple) are chosen freely, a car or caravan option is bought separately, and a Premium formula offers separate camping, a fast lane and dedicated sanitary facilities. On site there is no glass, no same-day ticket sales and cashless payment; the official site recommends buying your ticket online, well ahead.
