Arrive fresh in Alpe d'Huez.
Flight, train, bus or carpooling: compare the options side by side with your real dates. The idea is to arrive with a bit of battery left — you included.

Tomorrowland's alpine edition: a week-long ski festival at Alpe d'Huez, with stages set up on the slopes and in the heart of the resort. Next edition from 20 to 27 March 2027; the 2026 edition drew ~22,000 people from March 21 to 28.
Tomorrowland Winter is Tomorrowland's winter edition, based since 2019 at Alpe d'Huez, in the Grandes Rousses massif (Isère). The concept: a full week where you ski by day and, from the afternoon on, find the festival's signature stages — MainStage, Frozen Lotus, Orbyz, Cage — set up directly on the slopes and in the resort. The first edition, in March 2019, carried the theme "The Hymn of the Frozen Lotus"; the 2026 edition ran March 21 to 28, with around 22,000 festival-goers, seven to eight stages and more than 150 artists over the week.
This isn't a three-day festival but a stay: the "Festival Pass" bundles stage access with a ski pass. You sleep in or near the resort, hitting the slopes in the morning, the sets in the afternoon and at night. Alpe d'Huez, with its 250km ski area and its reputation as a very sunny resort, serves as the backdrop: some stages are reachable skis-on, others on foot in the village.
The crowd is international and the atmosphere is very "Tomorrowland" — elaborate stage design, costumes, communion on the MainStage — but transposed into the cold and altitude (Alpe d'Huez sits above 1,800m). You need to pack for both a ski trip and a festival: March mountain weather swings from full sun to a snowstorm in the same day.

Capacity, atmosphere, crowd, hours and on-site budget: the full profile of Tomorrowland Winter 2027 before you get your tickets.
Tomorrowland set up stages in the mountains for the first time March 13 to 15, 2019, under the theme "The Hymn of the Frozen Lotus." 30,000 tickets, a successful bet that became annual (except 2021, cancelled).
MainStage, Frozen Lotus, Orbyz, Cage, Reflection of Love, CORE, Moose Bar: some stages are reached skis-on, others on foot in the resort. The 2026 edition had seven to eight.
The "Festival Pass" covers stage access and a lift pass. You ski by day, dance in the afternoon and at night, for seven days.
Nothing like Boom's 400,000: capacity is limited by the resort. More than 150 artists performed over the 2026 week.
A warm, waterproof ski suit or jacket and trousers, gloves, goggles, sunscreen (altitude), après-ski boots, and something to handle -5 to -10°C outside in the evening. Gear rental available on site.
The Festival Pass (access + lift pass) starts around €600; add accommodation in the resort during peak season (expensive) and travel. One of the most costly festivals on the calendar.
Dates, hours, transport and lodging: what you need to know before you go.
One week, from 20 to 27 March 2027 (dates announced by Tomorrowland; 2026: March 21-28). Skiing by day, sets from afternoon into late night across the different stages.
"Festival Pass" sold on Tomorrowland Winter's official website: it includes stage access and a lift pass (duration varies by package). Pre-registration advised, packages sell fast.
Cashless at the stages via the festival wristband. In the resort, cards accepted everywhere.
Train to Grenoble (2h from Lyon, 3h from Paris), then a coach or shuttle to Alpe d'Huez (1h15-1h30, mountain road). By car, bring snow chains or tyres. Airports: Lyon (1h45) and Grenoble-Isère (1h).
The resort is partly accessible but altitude, snow and terrain complicate getting around; contact the organisers in advance for accessible access at the stages.
