The world's biggest afrobeats festival, on Praia da Rocha beach in the Algarve. Three days of afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, dancehall and amapiano, with attendees from over 180 countries — the biggest gathering of the African and Afro-descendant diaspora in Europe.
Afro Nation Portugal takes place every year on Praia da Rocha beach, in Portimão, in the Algarve. Born in 2019, the festival has become the biggest afrobeats gathering in the world, bringing together more than 40,000 people from over 180 countries over three days of concerts, bookended by an opening night and a closing night.
The lineup spans the whole spectrum of contemporary Black music: afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, dancehall and amapiano follow one another across several beachfront stages. The festival draws a very loyal international community, where the African and Afro-descendant diaspora comes together every summer under the Algarve sun — more a shared celebration than just a concert.
The setting is that of a classic Portuguese seaside resort: sandy beach, high summer temperatures and nightlife concentrated around Praia da Rocha. Tickets sell fast despite no lineup being announced ahead of time — the festival's reputation alone is enough to sell out the most sought-after categories within weeks.
