Les Déferlantes 2027

The Les Déferlantes festival.
In a nutshell.

Les Déferlantes Sud de France takes place July 9 to 11, 2027 at the Jardins du Lydia, in Le Barcarès (Pyrénées-Orientales). Born in 2007 in Argelès-sur-Mer, the festival resettled in Le Barcarès in 2023 after a stint in Céret, and now draws more than 100,000 festival-goers over three days, with the Mediterranean as a backdrop and the beached ocean liner Lydia as its set piece.

Created in 2007 by two Catalan friends at Château de Valmy in Argelès-sur-Mer, the festival multiplied its attendance fivefold over a few editions before leaving the town in 2020 after a disagreement with the municipality. After two editions at Château d'Aubiry in Céret, it settled in Le Barcarès in 2023, at the Jardins du Lydia, a stone's throw from the beached liner that gives the site its name. Linked to Olympia Production since 2018, it has hosted Sting, Lenny Kravitz, Elton John, Placebo, The Prodigy and Arcade Fire over the years, before turning more pop and urban in recent editions with Aya Nakamura, Gims, Sean Paul and Martin Garrix.

The site leans fully into its seafront setting: stages opening onto the Mediterranean, gates at 4pm, entertainment until 2am, and a Def Camp set up 50 metres from the entrance and 500 metres from the beach for multi-day pass holders. Bring something warm for the evening despite the daytime heat, and a cashless account topped up in advance — it's the only way to pay on site.

Access and accessibility

Sankéo shuttles from Perpignan TGV station and from dedicated car parks (including Def'Camp Parking, RD83 exit 13). The festival offers reception and facilities for people with disabilities/reduced mobility, to flag in advance.

TransportPerpignan is the gateway: TGV station and airport, with shuttles to the site.
By train
Direct TGV to Perpignan (about 5h from Paris), then a Sankéo shuttle to the Jardins du Lydia — the festival runs this service throughout its duration.
By plane
Perpignan-Rivesaltes Airport (PGF), about twenty minutes from the site. Barcelona-El Prat, 2h30 by road, serves more international flights.
Shuttles
Sankéo shuttles between Perpignan TGV station, dedicated car parks (including the Def'Camp Parking) and the festival entrance, running July 11 to 14 in 2026 — 2027 dates to be confirmed on the official website.
By car

AccommodationThe on-site Def Camp remains the simplest option; otherwise, Le Barcarès and Perpignan have most of the accommodation.
Def Camp (on site)
The official campsite reserved for multi-day pass holders, 50 m from the entrance and 500 m from the beach. Tents only, no vehicles; booking in addition to the pass.
Partner campsites
Several Le Barcarès campsites offer festival packages (pre-pitched tent, bare pitch, bungalow), a few minutes from the site.
Hotels
Le Barcarès and Perpignan (20 km) provide most of the area's hotel stock; to book early, the festival falls in peak tourist season on the coast.
Indicative prices
A hotel in Perpignan or on the coast from around €80-100 a night at this time, partner campsites far cheaper — to book several months ahead.
See places to stay →
DestinationLe Barcarès and the Côte Vermeille, between fine sandy beaches and Catalan villages.
Le Lydia
The 'liner of the sands', stranded on Le Barcarès beach since 1967, is the only ocean liner in the world buried in sand — a landmark to visit before or after the festival.
Perpignan
20 km away: the Castillet, the Palace of the Kings of Majorca and the Catalan historic centre, for a day before or after the festival.
Collioure and Argelès-sur-Mer
A little further south, the painters' village of Collioure and the beaches of Argelès-sur-Mer — the festival's former site until 2019 — are worth the detour towards the Spanish border.
Usual weather
Around 28 to 31°C by day in mid-July, clear skies, tramontane possible (a strong but cooling wind). Sea around 23-24°C.
