New York's big music festival, right in Queens: three days with no camping, where every out-of-town visitor books their own place to stay in one of the most visited cities in the world.
Governors Ball takes place every summer at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, in Queens, about thirty minutes from Manhattan. Unlike many major American festivals, there's no camping here: it's an urban event, designed for a crowd that heads back to sleep in the city every night — their own place or a hotel booked for the occasion. With more than 150,000 people in recent years, it's one of the major events on the New York music scene. The 2027 edition would take place in early June, dates still to be officially confirmed.
The lineup covers a broad range of pop, hip-hop and indie, with headliners among the biggest international names of the moment. Three main stages are spread across the park, between lawns and a view of the Queens skyline.
The absence of camping completely changes the experience compared to a rural festival: every out-of-town festival-goer has to organise their own accommodation in New York, one of the most expensive and in-demand cities in the world — a real city trip in its own right, not just a there-and-back to the festival.
