Lowlands was born in 1993, reinventing a 1960s Dutch festival concept under the name “A Campingflight to Lowlands Paradise.” Since then, it has established itself as a genuine cultural institution in the Netherlands: beyond the music (rock, pop, electronic, hip-hop), the festival also programs film, theatre, stand-up and literature, on stages named after the NATO phonetic alphabet. The site, next to the Walibi Holland theme park in Biddinghuizen, has sold out within minutes every year for more than twenty years.
Lowlands isn't just a music festival: the lineup blends music stages, film screenings, theatre shows and stand-up comedy — a “full culture” identity fairly unique in Europe.
To expand the site over the years, the organisers notably built a temporary bridge over a public road crossing the grounds — nicknamed the “bridge of death” by regulars, a symbol of the festival's logistical ingenuity.

Dates and schedule
Three days, from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 August 2027 (dates announced by the organisers during the 2026 edition).
Tickets
At lowlands.nl: only 3-day passes with camping and shuttle included, no single-day ticket. Very fast sales, watch for the opening.
Payment
Cashless on site, rechargeable online before arrival.
Camping
Camping is included with the ticket — it's the only way to experience the festival, no “no camping” option is offered.
TransportAmsterdam Schiphol remains the most convenient gateway, about an hour's drive away.

- Flights to Amsterdam Schiphol (~70 km from the site), then a shuttle or rental car.
- By train
- From Paris, Thalys to Amsterdam, then a regional train to Lelystad and a shuttle to the site.
- On site
- Shuttle included in the ticket from several Dutch stations on festival days.
AccommodationCamping, included with the ticket, is the only option on site.
- Festival camping
- Included in the 3-day pass — it's the Lowlands experience by definition, no hotel alternative is offered on site.

- For those who prefer to go home each evening (rare, the last-hour shuttle closes early), a few hotels exist 15-70 km away.
