The Californian band behind "Sweater Weather", between alternative rock, R&B and hip-hop.
Biography.
The journey and inspirations that shape The Neighbourhood's world.
The Neighbourhood blends alternative rock, indie and R&B and hip-hop influences, with Jesse Rutherford's deep voice as its signature.
The band formed in August 2011 in California, around singer Jesse Rutherford, and adopted the British spelling of its name to distinguish itself from another band bearing the same name in its American version. It relies on a five-piece formula, with Zachary Abels and Jeremiah Freedman on guitars, Michael Margott on bass and Brandon Fried on drums.
Its first album, "I Love You." (2013), contains "Sweater Weather", which became its signature track: ranked number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, it is certified 16 times platinum in the United States and has had a second life on streaming platforms. "Wiped Out!" (2015), "The Neighbourhood" (2018) and "Chip Chrome & the Mono-Tones" (2020) followed.
The band announced an indefinite hiatus in February 2022 before returning in August 2025, then releasing the album "Ultrasound" (2025). It is on the bill at Open'er (Gdynia, Poland) on Friday 2 July 2027.
