The world's oldest still-running pop-rock festival, in Landgraaf, Netherlands, in mid-June. Three days, ~70,000 festival-goers a day, an all-genre pop-rock lineup at the Megaland site. Born in 1970. Next edition June 18 to 20, 2027.
Pinkpop was born in 1970 — it's the world's oldest pop-rock music festival still held every year without interruption. Based since 1988 at the Megaland site, 27 hectares in Landgraaf in Dutch Limburg, on the German border and just a few kilometres from Belgium, the festival grew from a one-day format to three days between 1995 and 1997. Three days in mid-June, ~70,000 festival-goers a day, an all-genre pop-rock lineup that has seen nearly every major name in the genre pass through over more than fifty years.
Pinkpop holds a special place in European rock history: its exceptional longevity makes it a benchmark, often cited alongside Roskilde or Glastonbury among the oldest major festivals still running. The atmosphere remains family-friendly and multi-generational, carried by decades of audience loyalty.
The site sits at the border of three countries (Netherlands, Belgium, Germany), with optional camping for those who want to experience all three days without commuting. Mid-June in Limburg, the weather stays changeable — come prepared for both sun and rain.
