The metal festival inside an 18th-century fortress, from 4 to 7 August 2027 at Josefov, in the Czechia: four stages, an absinthe club, a horror cinema and 37 bands already announced.
Brutal Assault takes place every August in the military fortress of Josefov, in Jaroměř, East Bohemia, about twenty kilometres from Hradec Králové. The 18th-century ramparts, vaulted cellars and galleries are the backdrop to one of Europe's most unusual metal festivals: four stages and an experimental club, a horror cinema, art galleries and more than a hundred concerts. The 2027 edition is announced for 4 to 7 August; 37 first bands are already confirmed, including Mercyful Fate, The Sisters of Mercy, Emperor, Carcass and Children of Bodom.
The line-up mixes the big names of extreme metal with more obscure discoveries: Mercyful Fate, Children of Bodom, Emperor, Carcass, Hypocrisy and Belphegor for death and black fans, but also The Sisters of Mercy, Igorrr, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats or Master's Hammer, which will play its debut album in full. Out of 120+ concerts expected, 37 names are already announced and the festival has shown only about 28% of its bill.
The setting is the real star: you move between brick ramparts, pubs carved into stone, catacombs and small squares sheltered from the weather, a bit like a small town devoted to metal. No cash here: everything is paid with a chip wristband. Camping is paid and bought in advance in the festival shop, by pitch.

At 6am, a ten-minute journey can feel very long. Pick the right home base now, and the route that leaves you enough energy for the rest.
Flight, train, bus or carpooling: compare the options side by side with your real dates. The idea is to arrive with a bit of battery left — you included.
Bars, restaurants, spots worth a visit between two shows: enough to fill the gaps in the schedule without improvising on the spot at the last minute.
