Graspop was born in 1986 as a small local rock festival in Dessel, in Antwerp province, before turning in 1996 into Graspop Metal Meeting, entirely dedicated to metal. Thirty years later, it has become one of Europe's biggest metal festivals: four days in mid-June, up to 220,000 festival-goers combined, massive on-site camping, and a lineup covering every variant of the genre — heavy, thrash, death, power, gothic, metalcore.
The atmosphere is warm and communal, known as one of the best on the European metal circuit: the crowd comes from all over Europe, with a large share of loyal festival-goers who return year after year. Camping is an integral part of the experience, with its own amenities and reunion-like atmosphere.
The site is in the countryside, between Antwerp and the Dutch border: organised shuttles and parking, but driving or carpooling remain the most practical options. Mid-June in Belgium, the weather stays changeable — come ready for heat as much as rain.

Dates and schedule
Four days, Thursday to Sunday, mid-June (June 17–20, 2027, officially confirmed dates, 30th edition). Concerts from afternoon into the night across several stages.
Tickets
At graspop.be, in phases. 4-day pass with or without camping, 1-day tickets as an option. The first headliners are usually announced in the fall.
Payment
Cashless via the festival wristband, rechargeable online and on site.
Access and transport
Organised bus shuttles from Antwerp and other Belgian cities on festival days. By car, signposted parking around the site. No direct train station in Dessel — shuttle or car remain the main options.
Accessibility
Accessible zones and restrooms, accessible camping, dedicated reception. Register in advance via the official website.
TransportAntwerp or Brussels are the most convenient gateways; Dessel is then reached by shuttle or car.

- Train to Antwerp or Mol, then an official festival shuttle to the site. From Paris, Thalys/TGV to Brussels or Antwerp (1h25-2h).
- By car
- E34 from Antwerp towards Turnhout/Mol, exit Dessel. Signposted car parks around the site, carpooling common among regulars.
- By plane
- Brussels (BRU) or Eindhoven airport, both less than an hour by road from the site.
