The 20th edition of Europe's biggest metal festival, June 17 to 20, 2027 in Clisson: four days, ten stages, more than 300 bands and 60,000 people a day.
Hellfest 2027 takes place June 17 to 20 in Clisson, in the Loire-Atlantique department. For its 20th edition, dubbed The Absolute Edition, the festival grows from six to ten stages and announces more than 300 bands, in front of around 60,000 people a day.
Born in 2006 in the Nantes wine country, Hellfest has become Europe's go-to event for metal in all its forms: hard rock and heavy on the mainstages, thrash and death at the Altar, black and folk at the Temple, doom and stoner at the Valley, punk and hardcore at the Warzone. Each stage has its own colour and its own crowd, and the lineup reads as much like a map of the genre as a programme.
The site is an attraction in itself: a steel cathedral at the entrance, a monumental statue of Lemmy Kilmister, a Ferris wheel, welded set pieces that return year after year. For 2027, the organisers are announcing a complete overhaul of the layout, with four additional stages — Riot, Abyss, Forge and Crypt — joining the six historic ones.

Capacity, atmosphere, crowd, hours and on-site budget: the full profile of Hellfest 2027 before you get your tickets.
Around 240,000 entries over the four days, on a 57-hectare site with 21 hectares reserved for camping.
Nearly a third of the crowd comes from abroad, led by the UK and the Iberian Peninsula.
The entrance cathedral, the Lemmy Kilmister statue and the closing fireworks are all part of the ritual.
Started with 22,000 attendees in 2006, now France's biggest festival, overwhelmingly privately funded.
June in Loire-Atlantique swings between intense heat and showers, and the site is an open field: a cap, sunscreen and a windbreaker.
Estimate for food and drinks, payable exclusively cashless.
Dates, hours, transport and lodging: what you need to know before you go.
Four days of concerts, Thursday June 17 to Sunday June 20, 2027. Camping traditionally opens the evening before day one.
4-day passes, which went on sale July 7, 2026 at €389 (+ €10 fee), are sold out. 1-day passes are announced for the first quarter of 2027. The only safe resale is the festival's official platform — avoid private listings.
Cashless is the only payment method on site: bars, food, merch, showers and the Ferris wheel. Setting up and topping up your account before arriving saves a lot of time.
Official camping is traditionally included with the pass and split into zones with different atmospheres, from the most festive to the quietest.
The festival offers dedicated reception and platforms for people with reduced mobility, on request to the organisers ahead of the event.
