Madrid's big rock/pop festival, at the Iberdrola Music site, in early July. Four days, more than 200,000 festival-goers, a lineup known for the quality of its headliners. Launched in 2016. Next edition July 2027 (dates to be confirmed).
Mad Cool was born in 2016 at Madrid's Caja Mágica, before moving to Valdebebas and then, since 2023, to the Iberdrola Music site in Villaverde, south of the capital. In ten years, it has established itself as one of Europe's big rock/pop events, praised in 2018 with the NME Award for best lineup of the year. Four days in early July, more than 200,000 festival-goers, a lineup lining up the biggest international headliners alongside the Spanish scene.
The festival has built its reputation on the quality of its headliners more than the scale of its site: Mad Cool knows how to attract the most in-demand artists of the moment, often as a Spanish exclusive. The 2026 edition celebrated the festival's 10th anniversary with Foo Fighters headlining.
The site is urban with no camping: you stay in Madrid and reach Villaverde by Cercanías (commuter train) or metro. Early July in Madrid, the heat is intense — often above 32°C during the day, with nights that stay warm.
