Reading & Leeds 2027

The Reading & Leeds festival.
In a nutshell.

Reading & Leeds takes place August 26 to 29, 2027, over the bank holiday weekend that marks the end of the British summer. It's one single festival on two sites at once: Reading, on a meadow by the Thames west of London, and Leeds, in Bramham Park near Wetherby, in Yorkshire. The same lineup rotates between the two — an artist playing Friday at Reading will play Saturday at Leeds. A successor to the 1961 National Jazz Festival, it's the oldest popular music festival still running in the country.

The identity has stayed rock: hard rock, indie, punk, alternative, with hip-hop and pop taking an increasingly large place in recent years — headliners like Kendrick Lamar or Eminem have played here. It's also, traditionally, the festival of finishing school: the crowd is young, the camping atmosphere is electric, and the last night has its own reputation (campfires, sacrificed tents).

You pick your site when you buy your ticket. Reading is closer to London and slightly bigger; Leeds, at Bramham Park, offers a greener English-parkland setting. Both have their own big campsite, open from Wednesday. Late August in the UK: still-mild days, already-cool nights, and rain always possible — boots, poncho and a jumper remain essential.

Reading & Leeds in practice

Profile of the festival.

Capacity, atmosphere, crowd, hours and on-site budget: the full profile of Reading & Leeds 2027 before you get your tickets.

The oldest

Since 1961

Born as the National Jazz Festival, based at Reading from 1971, split with a Leeds edition from 1999. The oldest popular music festival still running in the UK.

Lineup

Rock, indie, punk… and hip-hop

Long a guitar festival, it now gives rap and pop a big place. Kendrick Lamar, Eminem and Travis Scott have headlined.

Two sites, one lineup

Reading and Leeds at the same time

Artists alternate: Friday at Reading = Saturday at Leeds. You pick your site at purchase. Reading is closer to London, Leeds is in a Yorkshire park.

The back-to-school festival

Young crowd, intense camping

Traditionally the British post-exams festival. A very festive camping atmosphere, and a chaotic last night that's gone down in history (campfires, abandoned tents).

What to pack

English late summer: boots and a jumper

Days at 18-22°C, nights dropping to 10°C, rain possible. Tent, warm sleeping bag, boots, raincoat. Nothing extreme, but summer is ending.

Budget

Pass from ~£295 (2026 price) + stay

Reference 2026 price: £295 without camping, £325 with camping, £361 with camping and early entry (camping is not included in every option); 2027 prices could not be checked. Add the Eurostar or flight to London, the train to the site, and food on site.
